de overgang van het weer

summer 1 minute, fall the next..weather is definitely changing. we had a beautiful weekend.t'was nice n sunny.stuffed our faces at a friend's place on sat.justified that by cycling to theirs. on sun, cycled to meijendel, wassenaar from the scheveningen dunes. from there, we cycled to centrum to meet up with a friend of a friend. another friend rang to say that they were staying over at our place the next day so had to clean the flat. my darling hubby disappeared to play badminton. cleaned the flat in 1 1/2 hours rather than the usual 2 hours!!events the past few days have taught me make sure i stock up on food n keep my flat tidy:)) hubby tends to give 1 hour notice before inviting his friends over. i am still learning how to cook so preparing meals takes me longer than it would for pros!! anyway, good practice!!

ramadhan is just round the corner. n i still haven't khatam as yet. need to concentrate on that for the next few days..hate doing last minute things!! must be the laid back attitude that i have now adopted since i stopped working!!

i wish everyone a happy ramadhan...then again, i doubt anyone else reads my boring blog apart from my darling hubby!! :))

Fall is here..

Yup!Autumn has arrived..the sun is out during the day but it gets really cold at nite. accroding to the weather forecast, it is dropping to 8 deg from 20 deg during the day. The leaves have started to change colours....I must say I really do love autumn among all the four seasons, not that u get all 4 here in Holland :)) Spring is nice as well becoz of the tulips.

We plan to plant some tulips at our balcony esp since next year may be our last spring in Holland.Need to do it soon before the frost sets in. I just love tulips.Must say that they are my favourite flowers. Had a fresh bouquet in our flat each week during spring. We'll see if my project succeeds considering i don't have green hands let alone green fingers :))

Phew...it's all over

Syukur Alhamdullillah! I have received my residence permit. Working to my advantage is IND's oversight in granting me 'indefinite leave to remain' instead of expat status which means I can work here without a work permit! Now, i really must buckle down n concentrate fully on mijn nederlandse les...:)

this is one of my fav van gogh pieces. haven't seen it on canvas yet as it is on display in otterlo. hubby is in amsterdam today for a meeting, was tempted to go but can't afford the time. yes! this lil housewife has actually got a busy schedule this week. gisteren - yassin reading at a friend's place, vandaag- afspraakje met gementee, morgen - farewell lunch, vrijdag - nederlandse les en pilates trial sess.it doesn't look like it's a busy schedule but I have my weekday quran reading sess to do everyday n that alone takes up 2 hours. yes! i am a pretty slow reader..

looks like we're off to egpyt in nov...redeemed hubby's airmiles!! hubby is gonna call the travel agent about our umrah trip. insya Allah, we will be going in ramadhan..hopefully while my parents are there.

Coffee....

Am enjoying my cup of coffee, the 2nd last spoon of this delish ground coffee we bought in rotterdam when my friends were here last month. since we haven't bought a coffee grinder yet, the coffee beans will have to wait! There's such a lovely breeze blowing.couldn't resist not sitting on my balcony. my balcony faces a main road to the beach but since it's in the hague, it is still pretty pleasant to sit outside!well, need to make the best out of break from the normal dutch summer..

unfortunately, have to start cleaning the house soon. yes! the weekly cleaning..think have procrastinated enough. life as the lady of leisure..

had some friends over for dinner last nite to commision our new dining table. was not happy w the quality of the food i cooked.not used to cooking for more than 2 people. hubby was very encouraging. also, practice makes perfect. insya Allah, we will be having another dinner party sat week.

Fasting

Decided to try fasting today, just to have a feel of fasting during summer. Breaking fast at 8:31pm..so far so good. Feel quite tired though..which could be due to my cycle to the gp. was cycling against the wind!! good workout!
Still no trip to the museum yet..will try tomorrow. Have time tomorrow as we have postponed our dinner plans. We're having a dinner party on Sat instead ..w our first non IKEA furniture :))
